Erpharo Gilbert, of Raynham, died in the crash that happened on Route 24 North in West Bridgewater on Sunday, April 3, as previously reported by Daily Voice.
Gilbert’s husband, Jean Marie Coquillon, told WPRI that the couple's 5-year-old son "is still waiting for his mom to come home.” He also expressed anger towards the driver who took Gilbert away from them.
“If you stopped and didn’t run, maybe you could have saved her life,” Coquillon told the outlet. “They will find you, wherever you are. They will find you and you will pay.”
State Police later identified the suspected driver as Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano, of Brockton, who turned himself into authorities on Thursday, as also reported by Daily Voice.
He will face several charges including leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury resulting in death, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Meanwhile, Gilbert's family is mourning her death. The Haitian-born social worker leaves behind son Warren among several other family members, according to her obituary.
